Wayang Making
Shadow Puppet Carving Experiences
In this practice you will learn how to craft a wayang kulit, an ancient form of shadow puppet storytelling art that uses carved leather shaped into characters from the story. The performance is led by a master storyteller called Dalang. The making process involves very careful sketching, carving, chiselling, and colouring. You'll choose a character in a folklore to make but you also have the liberty to sketch your own drawing.
This art form is not just a visual display but a spiritual and educational medium used to pass down moral values and epic legends through the slow pace meditative carving process.Pengalaman terkait
